Exhort 7 – Prayer for Service and Work

If you desire to honor God through your work and service,
this prayer helps you see your efforts as part of the Divine order and seek blessings in your labor.

1. I am grateful
   for the skills I have acquired—
   to work
   and to offer service
   to others.
2. I recognize this
   as part of the Divine order:
   serving humanity,
   while also serving God.
3. It is easy to see work
   through a personal lens:
   I go to work,
   provide a service,
   receive payment,
   and in turn,
   maintain my status
   and care for my family.
4. But another perspective
   is to consider the impact
   of my service
   on the lives of others—
   and the flow of life.
5. God has invested resources
   in us all—
   both spiritually
   and through nature:
   family,
   schools,
   community.
6. We are here
   to help
   and to serve
   one another.
7. Just as the hand excels at holding
   and the heart excels at pumping,
   so each of us
   possesses unique gifts
   and abilities.
8. This larger picture humbles me.
   It reminds me
   that I am a significant part of it.
9. My service to humanity
   is a Divine effort
   within the work I provide.
10. Thus I pray
    and strive
    for an excellent environment,
    so I may offer my best
    to God.
11. My work is not only for me—
    but primarily for others,
    both inside
    and outside my household.
12. Therefore, I ask for blessings
    in what I do.
    For grace
    and mercy
    to carry out my daily tasks.
13. I seek Divine providence
    to position me
    to serve humanity
    and in turn,
    serve God.
14. I ask for the skills
    to advance
    according to His Divine will.
15. The work of my hands—
    since it is mostly for others—
    is abundantly rewarded,
    without sorrow attached.
16. The burdens of work
    are lightened
    through Divine assistance.
    My steps
    are guided
    by His hand.
17. What a privilege to serve.
    What an honor
    to receive the blessings
    connected to it.
18. I possess a renewed
    and sound mind.
    A divinely powered,
    balanced body—
    for service to God
    and humanity.
